Salvador Dali (1904-1989)
Surrealist of the twentieth century. Diverse talented artist. One of the most appreciated modern artists. In addition to his solo work, he made reproductions on dry paperv with needle technique, etchings, woodcuts and lithography. Many of his works are in prestigious public and private collections around the world.
The illustrations for the "Divine Comedy" were commissioned by the Italian government to commemorate the 700th anniversary of Dante's birth. Dalí, despite his deep knowledge of Dante's work, did not limit himself to illustrating the content, but based on it, reflected his personal world, obsessions and visions in a surrealistic style with reference to the Renaissance and Baroque.
