MARCEL HESS (1878-1948)
b. 1878 in Brussels. Versatile Belgian painter. In 1904-1913 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and Düsseldorf. He specialized in portraiture, still life and floral painting. He was successful at numerous exhibitions during the interwar period. The biographical dictionary published in 1936. Presented as "a gifted portraitist and painter of flowers; Sensitive and vibrant works of rich color. " He often used pencils and created graphic works.
